Happy New Year! As we start 2008, we'll be focusing our lessons on the
church and what God wants it to be. This Sunday's main scriptures will
be Matthew 28:18-20 and Galatians 6:9-10. The body of Christ clearly has
been given a direction in which to go - a clear and distinct mission
which includes telling others of Christ. In fact, not just telling
others about Him but doing it in a thoughtful way that hopefully leads to
their salvation.

I'm excited about the focus of the New Year, and was struck by the similarity of Bruce's message yesterday and Pat's at the ladies' e-journey on Saturday. I'm thinking the Spirit has been moving in many hearts to lead us in the direction of outreach in the coming year -- praise God!
I thought I'd share my meditations from this morning for those who are interested. Blessings on your week.
It's such a lovely day, Lord. As I sit with my cup of tea and look out at the new snowfall, everything is very still. The trees stand silent and majestic -- the evergreens, flocked, but the bare trees are naked no more. Snow layered like lace adorns every branch, to the smallest twig. It reminds me of your grace, Lord, that covers every area of my life --the tiniest twig receives the same gentle attention as the largest, most glaring bare spot.
Your blue sky enhances the white beauty that lies beneath. Your love reaches farther than the heavens, yet graces everything on earth. May I follow your example, today, Lord, and bring out the beauty in all around me. And remind me that I have no goodness in myself to offer, but can only share what I've received from you. You are too good to me.
When I was young, missing a day of church was a social thing. These days it is a more grievous thing. Singing, communion, listening and even socializing (not to mention enjoying God's presence) are what I miss when I am away from you, as I was last Saturday and Sunday.
Wow! The two verses Danette highlighted are very powerful scriptures, and I, myself have many thoughts on them! Was anybody else at church that could expound on the thoughts that Bruce and Pat shared? I'm very curious.
